Network Assistant
Entry level Network Assistants are charged with monitoring the cable network to ensure that all channels are operating normally. They build on-air schedules, prepare weekly program schedules, regularly monitor all RU-tv channels for quality distribution, and catalogues the tape library, among other duties. A Network Assistant has the opportunity to get involved in production, after completing involvement and training requirements. Production duties would include working in the studio, field shoots, editing, and special events.
- Previous experience in a television recommended (but not required), including operations, engineering, and production;
- Able to work for at least one academic year. Flexible break, summer and winter employment is also available and strongly encouraged;
- Required to be available to work at least one break; winter, spring, or summer during the first year of employment;
- Available to work 10-12 hours per week during the academic semester (Including final exam periods). One hour a month will be reserved for required staff meetings. Training programs and special projects will be assigned as necessary. Student colleagues will be responsible for covering the hours they have agreed to work.
- Participate in, and successfully complete the staff appraisal process and recognize the importance and value of feedback about my job performance;
- Must currently be enrolled as a matriculated Rutgers Student;
- Agree to successfully complete the initial training program and participate in any on-going in-service training or refresher courses as needed;
- Considered on probation for at least the first three months of employment and becoming a full-fledged Network Assistant includes fulfilling any involvement requirements.
Starting Wage: |
$7.15/hour to start, with many opportunities for promotion. |
Training: |
30-35 hours of paid training to commence, once hired. |
Hours of Operation: |
8:30 a.m.-midnight, Monday through Friday
11:00 a.m-midnight, Saturday and Sunday
Hours may fluctuate during special events or emergencies. |
Schedule: |
10-12 hours per week is required (Including final exam periods), scheduled around your academic class schedule. |
