What are the rooms like? The building?
The rooms, located in Winkler Hall on the Busch Campus, are spacious, carpeted suites –each with its own toilet, shower, sinks, cable TV, high-speed Internet, window blinds, and other features, including furniture. The rooms will accommodate six roommates, two to a room. Common rooms have been converted into studio and editing space. For a more detailed explanation: http://housing.rutgers.edu/ie/winkler.html.
How many hours do we have to work?
Policies such as work hours can be agreed upon among the Floor Leaders and residents. However, participation in the program will determine your eligibility to return the following year. We are interested in fostering a “living and learning” environment where residents can involve themselves in aspects of a television station they are interested.
How interested do I have to be in television to live on the floor?
As this is a “living and learning” floor, we consider this program to be something that should be considered by anyone and everyone with an interest in but not limited to television, communications, engineering, and media studies. There are many opportunities available for students here, and if you think you would like to spend a year learning about working at a television station, we urge to join us in this exciting project.
How much does it cost?
Living in the special interest housing section costs the same as it would cost to live in any on-campus housing.
Do you have to be a special major in order to join this program?
We welcome and encourage students of any and all majors to get involved with RU-tv. If you have an interest in any aspect of television broadcasting, then we would love to have you onboard.
