Episode 11:   Nice to Meat You
Baked sweet chicken salad

Large Equipment Needed: microwave, paper towel, microwave safe dish, knife
Preparation Time: 25 minutes
Ingredients:
    1 banana, skin still green
    1 cup water
    1 teaspoon or 1 pat butter
    1 individual serving of canned chicken chunks
    1 teaspoon of any dried herbs (parley, cilantro, dill)
    2 packets of salt
Preparation:
    Place the banana unpeeled into a microwave safe dish, cutting off the tips. Cover with paper towel and microwave on HIGH for 3 minutes or until the skin opens up.
    Let cool, peel the skin off and add the water to the same dish. Microwave on HIGH for 4 minutes.
    Transfer the plantain into a clean mixing bowl, reserving the liquid.
    Add salt to the plantain and mash with a fork.
    Add butter, chicken, and herbs. Incorporate all the ingredients until they stick together.
Servings: 1



Improving chili from a can

Large Equipment Needed: Microwave, microwave-safe bowl, or hotpot
Preparation Time: Depending on label, but no more than 10 minutes
Ingredients:
    Your favorite 8oz can of chili, either with or without meat.
    2 tablespoons of any cheese, shredded
    Note: The less the manufacturer spends preparing the packaging, the cheaper the cheese will be. Don’t be afraid to buy a chunk of cheese and cut the necessary amount off and then dice into little pieces.
    1/2 green pepper, diced
Preparation:
    Transfer the chili into a microwavable dish, or directly into the hotpot. Heat the chili according to instructions on the can.
    When warmed, mix in the green peppers and sprinkle the chili with cheese

Baked Ham

Large Equipment Needed: oven, baking pan, knife
Preparation Time: 10 minutes, cooking time 1 hour.
Ingredients:
    1 3-4 lb pre-cooked, precut ham (bone in)
    1 16 oz. can cola
    1/2 cup orange juice
Preparation:
    Pre heat the oven to 350 degrees.
    Place ham in shallow baking pan so that the cuts on the ham are horizontal to the pan. S core 1-inch diamonds shapes along the top and sides of the ham, about 1/2 inch deep.
    Mix cola and orange juice, and pour over the ham. There should be at least 1/4 inch of liquid on the bottom of the pan.
    Place the ham into the oven, basting the ham with pan liquids every 20 minutes.
Servings: 8
